Description
This is the personification of the third of the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit.
The book symbolizes Knowledge (of Right and Wrong), the girl points her finger upward to emphasise that it is given from above. Therefore, the book is made of pure gold and a real treasure (Truth). She wears an eye-patch which stands for ignorance. The meaning of the eye-patch is connected with the meaning of the golden glittering accessories she is wearing. They stand for the lies which deceive us by imitating the Truth ("All that glitters is not gold"). Therefore, the ignorant eye can't be aware of the real treasure as long as it doesn't discover the book and gain the Knowledge (Truth). Till then, it will be satisfied with the lie, which it thinks is the truth.
